Generally, What Entrepreneurs Face and What Efforts They Make

If you are a budding entrepreneur, exporter, or someone planning to start exporting from India or Vietnam, you may have already faced some of these situations.

  1. Either you try to do sales yourself or you hire a salesperson.

  2. Office staff expenses, office rent expenses, everything starts without any business or any roadmap, and without any data analysis, market analysis, business plan, or roadmap. You start making unnecessary . additional expenses and unnecessarily go on foreign trips.

  3. Somehow, even if you get an inquiry, then you send the quotation, spend money and send samples. After spending so much money and time, even one order does not get closed. After sending the quotation and sample, there is no response from the client.

You may spend the whole year doing all these things, but nothing comes. Later, you get demotivated and either drop the plan of exporting or slowly move forward by correcting each mistake one by one.

But in this process of experimentation, a lot of your time and money gets wasted.

There can be many reasons for this type of setback, such as:

  1. Not doing data and market analysis

  2. Moving forward without a business plan

  3. Selecting the wrong product

  4. Searching for buyers in the wrong country

  5. Spending time and energy behind the wrong buyers

  6. Starting to approach buyers without qualifying them

  7. Selecting the wrong market

  8. Lack of structured follow-up

  9. Competing only on price

If you are trying to build your export business, you need to understand one thing clearly:

Export is a process and sales is an art.

Just selecting any product and starting to try to sell it to anyone in any country — this will not bring export sales orders.

You need to focus on:

  • Selecting the right product

  • Making the right strategy

  • Doing market study and competitive analysis

  • Approaching the right country

  • Targeting the right buyers

  • Moving forward with a proper budget for 6 months, 1 year, 3 years and 5 years.

If you are an Indian or Vietnamese entrepreneur or from any country trying to build your export business, and you are receiving inquiries but struggling to convert them into consistent international business, the issue may not be your product —it may be your export sales system.

Sometimes a short strategic discussion is enough to identify the bottleneck.
